Prodoc III Update Process
Important: Only perform this update when instructed to do so via the Prodoc News Feed.
Before You Begin
- We recommend that all users close Prodoc before the update begins. If users remain logged in, they can simply close and reopen Prodoc once the update has completed.
- Strongly recommended: Perform a SQL database backup before starting the update process.
- Replace the prodocupdate.exe file in the install folder (C:\Programfiles\Tradewindow\Prodoc) with the new version https://www.myprodoc.com/downloads/prodocupdate.zip
Updating Prodoc III on the Server
Note: You must log in to the Prodoc server using the same Windows account that is running the Prodoc EDI Service.
1. Open Prodoc Admin
Launch Prodoc Admin from the desktop on the main Prodoc server.
From the main screen you can:
- View currently connected users.
- Check when Prodoc last detected a successful backup.
- Confirm the current Prodoc version.
2. Download the Update
Click Download External Info.

When the download window appears:
- Tick the Update Prodoc to latest version checkbox.
- Click OK.

3. Wait for the Update to Complete
The update progress will be displayed in the top-right corner of the window.
Once you see "Update completed", click Close.

4. Install the Update
Prodoc will then prompt you to install the downloaded update.
Select Yes.
Note: If you select No, Prodoc will continue to open the existing version. You will be prompted to install the update each time Prodoc is launched until it has been installed.
After a short delay, Prodoc Admin will reopen using the new version.
The server update is now complete.

Updating Prodoc III on Client Workstations
To maximise uptime and minimise security risks, Prodoc III runs locally from each user's Windows profile. The client only connects to the Prodoc server to check for updates and download new versions.
Any users who had Prodoc open during the server update will continue using the previous version until they restart the application.
To update a client:
- Close Prodoc.
- Reopen Prodoc.
The application will automatically detect the new version, download the updated files (this may take up to 2 minutes), and then launch normally.
No further action is required.
