Overview
Prodoc Cloud can take file uploads for a range of purposes, such as signatures and logos, through to shipment documents, PDFs, message files and others stored in the shipments themselves.
However, being on a remote cloud server, when selecting a file you can only navigate locally as quickly as your system can feed the software over the internet, which can be quite onerous if you're drawing files from a deep file tree such as your Documents on the user profile or through folders that can contain many files.
This batch script attached below, only usable on Windows, will create a folder in your "Documents" folder called Prodoc, then map it to the drive letter K:, which shows as a root path in the Prodoc file navigation, you can then use this folder as a staging location for files to quickly find them.
DISCLAIMER
Please never blindly run scripts you find on the internet without first checking them out. This is a plain Windows batch script that runs from the local user (not admin) and the commands can be inspected using Notepad.
WE RECOMMEND YOU ALERT YOUR IT to this script before running it so that they can inspect it and validate its safety.
Script File
Please see the batch file "Create Prodoc Drive.bat" attached to this page.
Standard Navigation Process [for file in Documents]
- Open a File Upload in Prodoc
- Navigate to C
- Navigate to Users
- Navigate to your User Profile
- Navigate to Documents OR; OneDrive, then Documents, if your business uses that
- Find file
Replacement Navigation Process [for file in Documents]
- Open a File Upload in Prodoc
- Copy file into K:/ OR; Copy file into Documents > Prodoc
- Navigate to K:
- Find file
Alternatives
The standard alternatives to this is using a real network share, which is a common practice but not always available or suitable, or configuring "Email Upload" which allows you to send/forward emails with attachments to a Prodoc email address, and your system will pick them up and attach them to the shipment (which can be very fast and convenient as most shipping doc attachments arrive via email).
