Prodoc On-Premise Update Process

Important

Only perform this update when instructed to do so through the Prodoc News Feed.

Before You Begin

Before starting the update process:

  • We recommend that all users close Prodoc.
    • If users remain logged in during the update, they can simply close and reopen Prodoc after the update has completed.
  • Strongly recommended: Perform a SQL database backup before beginning the update.
  • Replace the existing ProdocUpdate.exe file in the Prodoc installation folder with the latest version:

Default location:
C:\Program Files\Tradewindow\Prodoc

Updating Prodoc III on the Server

Important: You must log in to the Prodoc server using the same Windows account that is running the Prodoc EDI Service.

1. Open Prodoc Admin

Launch Prodoc Admin from the desktop on the main Prodoc server.

From the main screen, you can:

  • View currently connected users.
  • Check when Prodoc last detected a successful backup.
  • Confirm the current Prodoc version.

2. Download the Update

Click Download External Info.

When the download window appears:

  1. Select the Update Prodoc to latest version checkbox.
  2. Click OK.

3. Wait for the Update to Complete
The update progress will be displayed in the top-right corner of the window.
When you see "Update completed":

  1. Click Close.

  2. 4. Install the Update

Prodoc will prompt you to install the downloaded update.

    Select Yes to continue.

Note: If you select No, Prodoc will continue opening the existing version. You will be prompted to install the update each time Prodoc is launched until the update has been installed.

After a short delay, Prodoc Admin will reopen using the updated version.

The server update is now complete.

Updating Prodoc III on Client Workstations
To maximise uptime and minimise security risks, Prodoc III runs locally from each user's Windows profile. Client workstations connect to the Prodoc server only to check for updates and download new versions.
Any users who had Prodoc open during the server update will continue using the previous version until they restart the application.
To Update a Client Workstation

  1. Close Prodoc.
  2. Reopen Prodoc.
  3. The application will automatically:

    • Detect the new version.
    • Download the updated files.
    • Apply the update.
  4. The download process may take up to 2 minutes depending on the workstation and network speed.

No further action is required once the update completes.
