Overview
Ideal for LCL exports and multi-customer shipments, combining shipments allows you to take several shipments, select one as the "master" carrying across its detail screen information, and putting all of the product information in one place.
This can allow for situations such as needing to generate commercial invoices and other documentation across multiple scenarios (usually customers or suppliers) then later generating a consolidated set of documentation for customs and shippers, although this role can sometimes also be filled by "Split Forms" which is an advanced form feature.
This master shipment is then created as a brand new entity with its own shipment reference and some combined shipment details, and the source shipments remain untouched, this master shipment can then have its details changed from the master source, such as changing to generic customer details.
Actions to take
- Select multiple shipments within the Overview Panel on Prodoc Home (click the empty grey square on the left to select the whole line, then shift/control click the others)
- Right click any selected shipment and select Combine
- Choose a master source, a new Shipment Number and whether to clear the dates
- Press Ok
Example
Below you will see three shipments, the Details screen of the master source [Original Shipment], and the products screen of all three shipments [Original Shipment/AdditionalShipment/AdditionalShipment2].
After combining, the Invoice Number and Customer Order Numbers are combined as comma separated values, and the products screens are combined (including products being placed under Containers with like numbers as seen in an LCL)
All calculations are then reapplied accounting for the new details and goods and summaries are updated.
You can now update the consolidated shipment as required, and send consolidated docs to where they need to go.
Alternatives
Please see the Split Forms articles before settling on Combined Shipments as your process, split forms can generate multiple forms based on criteria, which is more suitable if you need to create a fewer number of multi-document sets that can be derived from a single shipment (such as one page per container).
